The Angel's Island

No angels there, plenty of deer though

Story by Pavel Macek November 25th, 2015

I’ve got sunburned in Bay Area twice. Once in San Francisco during a completely grey and foggy day – which buffles me to this day. Second time was on this lovely trip to Angel Island.

Armed with no sun screen, our lovely buddy Vlki and childish excitement we’ve decided to make it in time for a morning ferry. The only one for the day.

Leaving San Francisco on a boat is pretty spectacular. Plus, we were on a boat!

The unobstructed 360° views of San Francisco, Marin County and Mt Tamalpais are stunning.

If you ignore the views (which would be silly), there is still an old army base training camp and US Bureau of Immigration inspection and detention facility that processed approximately one million of people. It is quite powerful.
